I?ve had my new girl since April and we are getting along fine. She?s an 8year old warmblood (first warmblood ive owned), but she was homebred and hadn?t done much so more like a 5/6 year old. She?s hacking out with another horse in lead and will lead herself, it?s solo hacking that?s an issue. I am only taking her on short routes that she knows, but at certain points and when she lacks confidence she wants to head back home. This manifests it?s self with spinning and trying to bog off. She not rearing, but two front feet slightly off ground, and always a spin to the left. I am able to feel it coming most times and can stop her before she starts. But every ride on our own feels like a battle at the momentNow, I?m ok with hacking out in company for now, but I really don?t want to be dependant on another person all the time. Is it best to leave the solohacking until we know each other better, or am I making a bit of a rod for my own back and if I leave it and I may end up with a horse that absolutely won?t hack out alone? She hacked out alone in her previous home.
