Addition to my WWYD post! Hole in hind suspensory

Hi again! For those of you who read or replied to my original post about my ID x mare with a hole in her hind suspensory I was wondering if any of you had any experience with turning a horse away for a year or so with this condition. My vet has said this is not a good idea as she won?t heal if she has turnout and this possibly means she will have to be PTS as they can?t guarantee she will come right even if I do the rehab. She is such a lovely gentle person I want to try and give her the best possible chance and therefore was interested if anyone had experience with this. Thank you to everyone that replied to my original post - it was so helpful to hear others people?s opinions and i really appreciate it. And thanks for reading this far again! :)
