! by Naim
The specific Tunisian Experience is completely different from the Palestinian experience and Hamas can **t just copy or use it as an example to follow in its strategy to reshape the Palestinian political system. Tunisia is **t completely occupied by foreign power for the last 66 years. Tunisia does **t have refugees who lost their country and are scattered around the
world. Tunisia does **t have a major faction that went and signed an accord with the occupier and obligated themselves with all kinds of obligations and subjected them to all kinds of arrangements under their still direct occupation power and practices. Tunisia does **t have sharp differences in its centers of powers and factions on how to liberate Tunisia from the occupation power. Tunisia does **t have a well organized military wing with a specific ideology to fight the occupier and an authority military apparatus coordinating with the occupier and preventing any arm resistance to this occupier. Hamas threw itself just suddenly like that into the hands of the Palestinian authority under the good ultimate objective slogan of the Palestinian unity thinking that they will be a real partner in shaping future Palestinian politics based on their previous accords in Cairo and Doha. Unfortunately, Hamas needs to k**w from **w that their good intentions of reaching the Palestinian unity can **t be a solid guarantee to their real partnership with the Palestinian Authority. Hamas miscalculation in regard to the Syrian situation and the loss of their support from the supporters of Syria and the recent developments in other Arab countries which went the other way put them in a tough position. President Abbas will forget about Cairo and Doha accords with them at one point or a**ther and they will have to be subjected to his policies. As you say Mr. Abdel Bari in your last sentence of your article, Mr. Abbas got from Hamas a blank authorization and left him without a real opposition front. If Mr. Abbas is saying what he is saying among other things about the holy security coordination before even the unity government is formed. What would Hamas expect from Mr. Abbas and his authority once the government is formed and once Hamas gives up its government seat of power in Gaza. Hamas did miscalculate in its policies with its past friends and I think it is miscalculating **w with the way they are throwing themselves into the hands of Mr. Abbas and his **n reversible over whole policies. The disagreement **w over the person to be a foreign minister and of having or **t having the ministry of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli Jails are very small mi**r issues compare to the potential big issues of disagreement which will come out in the future. I think Hamas needs to be clear from **w. Does it accept Mr. Abbas policies and approach in dealing with the power of occupation which he is **t going to change and as a result it has to subject itself to these policies, or does it have a different policies and approach and as a result it has to take a different course. The major foundations of the Palestinian politics between and among the Political factions are subjects of disagreement and are way different from the Tunisians ones. That is why just borrowing the recent Tunisian Al Nahda’s experience of unity government would **t be easy in Palestine.
