My brain hurts

I have decisions to make in the near future about my animals, and keep turning over in my brain the best way ahead. Epic post aheadI have one horse (mine) and one companion on loan.My horse has arthritis and is 24 and I had more or less decided to say goodbye before they came in for the winter.Vet been recently to do an assessment and thought he was doing pretty well at the mo but the winter might be hard.Since the thunderstorms yesterday when horse was out in torrential rain for hours due to me not being able to get up to him he has been very lame on back legs, so that has made the winter decision for me.I will be left with loan pony.So. options are, 1) keep pony to keep my hand in and keep my exercise up (hate gyms) but will have to share a paddock for the first time in 20 odd years with another livery.Im used to doing my own thing and sorting grazing out,bringing in/out etc etc. when it suits me may find this challenging 2) Let pony go back and give up.3) Get another horse as companion for companion, thus enabling me to keep paddock to myself. However as Im 70 now maybe its the time for me to downsize. (I don't ride anymore) Just lost one dog so not looking forward to losing horse shortly which is another minusIm wittering I know but writing it down keeps it a bit straight. Anyone got a fourth option :D
