As much as I love this sunny weather and I am not complaining (I'm looking at you weather gods!) but our ground has gone terribly hard and therefore have become a bit paranoid about starting some trot work with my lad. We have had some successful confidence building walk hacks (I posted about having a bit of a confidence crisis and tips on there have helped massively) and I've started back with my lessons but need to start stepping up a gear to get him fitter and a bit trimmer. I don't want to hammer him in the school as he isn't the most balanced and don't want him to go sour. We have plenty of hacking around us but mostly dirt and stone tracks, no long grassy tracks or hills to use. Is it so bad to be trotting on harder ground? I have become so paranoid since Toby and don't want to break my new one by doing the wrong thing!
