The United States Geological Survey released stunning new footage on Saturday showing the lava pouring from a fissure created by activity around Kilauea, an active volcano in Hawaii that exploded Thursday morning (https://mashable.com/2018/05/17/hawaii-kilauea-volanco-erupts-explosion/?utm_campaign&utm_context=textlink&utm_medium=rss&utm_source).

The footage, which was filmed just before 8:00 a.m. Hawaii local time shows a powerful lava flow tearing its way across the island, dangerously close to multiple structures.*

According to the USGS, the flow is advancing southeast, and it originated from a line of low fountains, which can be seen in the background of the clip.

A status report from the USGS (https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/volcanoes/kilauea/status.html) states that the rate of lava eruption in the lower east rift zone increased on Friday and continued overnight. As of Saturday morning, the flow remained "very active" and was moving at speeds of up to 300 yards per hour.* Read more... (https://mashable.com/2018/05/19/hawaii-lava-flow-kilauea/)
