The prominent filmmaker behind Bowling For Columbine, a documentary about a school shooting that took place in 1999, reacted to news about Friday night's shooting near the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a short, but powerful Facebook post (https://www.facebook.com/mmflint/posts/10152065762191857?fref=nf).

He went on to argue that the United States is plagued by violent episodes like this one in large part because of weak gun laws, which make it possible for "disturbed white males" to get their hands on deadly *******.
