Just before Christmas, I left a job where I was working with horses and had the chance to ride fairly regularly. I couldn't afford my own but had one of their youngsters that was "my" project, and lots of lovely horses that I was able to ride. I'm in the process of changing careers and I want to travel a bit, so buying my own isn't an option at the moment (hopefully it will be in a year or so). But, I miss having a horse/horses in my life, so I'm in the process of looking for a share. I'm happy to offer a financial contribution/and or do chores and I really just want something that's nice to do that I can take for hacks and ride a little in the school so I don't completely forget how to ride! I've never been a sharer before though, so I'm a little clueless as to how it works. Do you usually have a written contract in place? What are the common pitfalls of sharing?Currently, I'm working flexibly from home, so I am happy to just have a horse on weekdays, but I'm moving to start a PGCE in September, so wouldn't be able to commit to a long term arrangement. Would this put people off? I'm worried about looking like I only want a horse to share for the summer, and leaving someone in the lurch in the winter!I'm mostly responding to adverts on facebook/preloved at the moment, and I'm never sure how much information to give people- especially in a first message. When you're hearing from a prospective sharer, what are the important things you want to know straight away?Any general advice on finding a share or sharing gratefully received!
