It seems Google (http://mashable.com/category/google/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_medium=feed&utm_source=rss) has chosen a side in the debate over an Internet fast lane (http://mashable.com/2014/05/21/internet-peering-fast-lanes/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_medium=feed&utm_source=rss).
While the search giant doesn’t name any names in a recent blog post (http://googlefiberblog.blogspot.com/2014/05/minimizing-buffering.html), it clearly has sided with content providers to fight against paid peering — the practice in which ISPs charge those providers a premium for a direct interconnection with their networks.

“Video traffic doesn’t bog down or change the way we manage our network in any meaningful way–so why **t help enable it," said Jeffrey Burgan, Google'd director of network engineering
It’s probably fair to assume this is a shot at Comcast specifically, which made headlines last month (http://mashable.com/2014/04/28/verizon-peering-netflix-comcast/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_medium=feed&utm_source=rss) for cutting a deal with Netflix for paid peering.
