Second hand BP's - yay or nay?

I sold pretty much all of my horsey stuff whenI sold my last horse so I'm starting from scratch again.I had a great airowear outlyne bp previously which I sold. With my new horse, my main activity will be happy hacking - literally pottering around the country lanes but I think it's worth getting another BP again just to be on the safe side - I don't bounce quite so well these days.I forgot how £££ BP's can be though and having had the cost of buying and vetting the new horse plus getting new tack incl saddle, restarting her vaccinations and getting teeth done my bank balance is a tad low.Is it a false economy buying a second hand BP? I'd never buy a second hand hat but I never replaced my BP's after a fall as I assumed that given the nature of the foam material, they were less susceptable to damage!
