I'm really struggling with my itchy pony, his coat never looks fantastic and he easily gets scurfy, he often lacks energy and general perkiness. He is aged 9 and is 11.2, he is trace clipped at the moment but I will clip him out at the weekend so I can get his skin to condition it before sweet itch season hitsI am trying to get a general vitamin and mineral supplement in to him but cannot find anything that he doesn't react to. He is sensitive to wheat, sugar, alfalfa, maize, barley, linseed and soya - these all make him itch, he isn't great with grass either so stays in a fair bit I've asked the vet about Cushing's but apart from lack of topline and a rubbish (though not long/curly) coat he isn't typical and they say he is a bit young to test plus the fact he has steroids on and off mean a result isn't reliableI've tried real minimal ingredient vitamins/minerals such as those from progressive Earth, Equimins, Agrobs and the latest one Lincoln powdered balancer among othersWhatever I try has him itching within 24 hoursI can't use pick me up type supplements such as Red Cell as these set him off because of the sugarHe exists on hay and either Speedibeet or Copra depending on the time of yearHe can tolerate granulated Himalayan salt and Spirulina so gets these. He had done quite well on Equifeast fight back in the past but it's a small fortune! He just seems like he is lacking in something, anyone have any bright ideas please?
