It?s an interesting time because this usually takes place on day 1 of the game so it?s all guesswork at that point. Probst has seen all the players up close and personal many times through the casting process, but he really doesn?t know what?s going to happen once they get on the beach. And there are always surprises. I speak from experience on that one because some of the people I have loved in my pre-game interviews end up being disappointments once the cameras turn on, while other players that might not impress in a pre-game chat can suddenly pop on screen when the stakes are raised. So it?s guesswork in terms of picking out the best players and characters that will emerge, but call it educated guesswork, because far more often than not, those first impressions do play out as expected.
