Clippers, battery or mains?

Hello, I have to invest in a pair of clippers. I was wondering which are better/ more reliable, battery operated and rechargeable or mains operated/ plug in ones. I don't know if I'm right but something tells rechargeable ones might not be as robust? Also does anyone have a reccomendation on brands of clippers. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I do want something that will last. I will only be clipping 2 horses twice a year.
