i know this is hard as known of you have meet my gelding but i just need some one elses view on the matterso viewed a small quiet DIY yard less then 5 min drive from our new home yesterday really happy with the yard on will hand in my notice at current yard on first of march and leave 1 April (ha ha!)I have been given the top back yard stable, this means when my gelding is in he can see of the front yard and back, he is nosey i admit, and the only other stable was in a building which meant if the horse next to him goes out to a show or for a lesson (which it often does he would be in there alone)he has had some runs in with ulcers over the years and one of the reasons he is coming closer to home is so i can do him myself and make sure he is getting enough forage (vets have been out and given him a whole mot so only reason why can boil the repeating ulcers down to is not enough forage over night and fields at current yard being empty but not aloud to hand nets out)i need my gelding 3 meals a day of alfa alfa, and key flow pink mash, they has done him great this winter and he has held his weight (he started on this march 2017 after a bad winter of looking at a hat rack!) he has also been on hay after the vets advice the haylage at the current yard was no good for him (very wet)any way new yard suppiles haylage that is very dry (although does smell lovely/sweetish)do you think giving him haylage in a large greedy feeder net would be suitable? (would slowly introduction haylage mixing with what was left of my hay)normally i wouldnt change him but hay is becoming more and more difficult to get a hold of on island and it is currently £40 a round bale!so changing him would save a lot of money but worried if it would bring ulcers back or send him off his trolley!!sorry its so long!
