Apple might finally ditch Qualcomm (https://mashable.com/category/qualcomm/), the supplier of LTE modems in the iPhone, after getting locked into legal disputes over patent royalties (https://mashable.com/2017/10/31/apple-ditching-qualcomm-chip-dispute-rumor/) last year.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims, according to MacRumors (https://www.macrumors.com/2018/02/04/kgi-intel-exclusive-modem-supplier-2018-iphones/), that Intel might be the exclusive supplier of modems for all the new iPhones (https://mashable.com/2018/01/29/apple-3d-touch-iphone-dead-rumor/) launching later this year.
Why should you care? Because it could mean the new iPhones might have potentially slower data transfer speeds.
