Took my 20 year old mare Finn out to dressage this morning. Haven't taken her out for months as she started not loading. 30 minutes to load at home and getting quite dangerous barging off and up to 2 hours to come home.Have been practising loading and OK at home but she often picks up on practice and the real thing. So entered Intro and Prelim. Loaded immediately and calmly going out. Intro went OK, not great mark then got eliminated from Prelim but she gets so excited at being out she wouldn't listen to me, I lost concentration and had no idea where I was in the test! Then she loaded like an angel to come home - had enlisted friend to be there with me to help. Finn got on straight away, she did turn and I thought she was going to get off but friend said another horse went past just as she got on so she just turned to look.So all though I got rubbish score and then eliminated came home feeling positive and looking for more competitions to enter. Thinking of taking my 5 year old to his first outing.Sorry for long post just good to feel positive after dreading loading, and general gloominess of the winter. Looking forward to spring and summer.
