My lad is currently in on box rest for another week and then 2 weeks of small paddock turnout after his PSD op and starting to think about rehab options. Can't go with the vet's "one size fits all plan" as I can't ride for another 5 months, I am hoping the physio will be able to help us with something a bit more tailored but that's not for another 3 weeks either so preemptive planning but the hand walking is getting tedious (for both of us). My plan was to long rein out on hacks as much as I can and then maybe round the edge of the school but I've already been told we need to get him working as correctly as I can when he is back in work. Lunging is a big no and not usually a fan on strapping his head down but he has a very high head carriage and very nosey and what little topline we did manage to get before surgery has disappeared. I have an equiami which we seemed to get on with but not sure if I can use that out long reining. Is there anything else I could consider that I could use when we first start long reining to encourage him to stretch forward and not be as hollow? Thanks!
