Nigerian security forces were warned of Boko Haram's April 15 raid on a state-run school for girls more than four hours in advance, various sources at Nigeria's military headquarters say, and yet they failed to act, a new report claims.
"The fact that Nigerian security forces knew about Boko Haram's impending raid, but failed to take the immediate action needed to stop it, will only amplify the national and international outcry at this horrific crime," Netsanet Belay, Amnesty International's Africa director of research and advocacy, said in the organization's report (http://www.amnestyusa.org/news/press-releases/nigerian-authorities-failed-to-act-on-warnings-about-boko-haram-raid-on-school) that was published on Amnesty USA's website on Friday.
