Question about foxes

I'm not getting into a debate about hunting :p Today near Sunbury 4 foxes had been shot, each one of the four foxes had both back legs removed/cut off and they had been thrown over a rather large fence. My husband has just shown me the photo's and its quite gross, the only reason I could think of is the back legs have all been hacked off as it shows some sort of weird evidence of something Anyone have any idea why all their back legs have been removed in a deliberate and identical way, no other part of their bodies had been removed
