BMW plans to produce a futuristic electric vehicle with a whopping 435 miles of range. That's enough to drive from Los Angeles to Phoenix and still have 60 miles to spare.*

Tesla's current vehicles, the high-speed luxury Model S (http://mashable.com/category/tesla-model-s/) and the more affordable Model 3 (http://mashable.com/2018/01/02/tesla-model-3-has-easter-egg-hidden-in-software/), have upper ranges of 335 miles and 310 miles, respectively.*

The critical difference, of course, is that Tesla's electric vehicles already exist and can be driven across the entire U.S. (http://mashable.com/2018/01/04/telsa-releases-online-tool-for-driving-routes/) Also, these Tesla vehicles aren't SUVs.

BMW officials told Auto Express (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/102332/bmw-inext-suv-concept-to-debut-later-this-year) that later in 2018 the company will reveal an SUV prototype of its forthcoming iNext all-electric vehicle, which it plans to put on roads in 2021. The iNext, according to BMW, will follow the size and stylings of the BMW x5, the automaker's current gas-powered SUV.* Read more...
