Thought people might be interested in the changes I've seen in my three year old, gelded at two years seven months after siring nine foals due this spring.Firstly, it was the easiest gelding recovery ever. He hardly even swelled and never seemed to notice. His balls were huge, far larger than an 'unused' four year old I once had castrated. When introduced to my two little mares, he loved them and they loved him. In the weeks that have passed since, he doesn't care about them anymore and is desperate to be best buddies with my gelding. I thought that was an interesting change.Body wise, he is beginning to look like he is going to turn into a bit of a burly boy. I thought he had good bone for a two year old, but since the gelding his head's got bigger, his frame's got bigger and he looks like a far heavier horse in the making than he did as a colt.I don't buy colts as a rule, so I've no idea how much of this increase in bulk (he is still quite ribby, this isn't fat) is due to gelding and how much just due to normal growth. I've had and seen various youngsters and it doesn't look like 'just growth' to me.Temperament wise, he was a gentle, respectful colt and he's a gentle, respectful gelding. I'm loving having a youngster aground the place again. It's such fun watching them change so quickly.
