LAHORE: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal Sunday said the game played in Balochistan was detrimental to the interests of Balochistan and Pakistan adding that such actions in the past had led to the dismemberment of Pakistan.
Speaking to the reporters here, he said all those who participated in the movement against the Balochistan government had made things easier for the enemies of Pakistan. He advised against doing politics on the Zainab murder issue saying that no effort was being spared to bring her killer to justice.
He said if politicians wanted to do politics then they should gird up their loins for the general elections allowing the electorate to decide their political fate. He asked what was justification for holding protests and sit-ins when the general elections were just five months away. ?We respect the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The constitution has determined the jurisdiction of every institution.
If every institution will work within its constitutional limits then there will be no problem in the country,? said Ahsan. ?We have to run this country. We have to stop the conspiracies due to which the sword of uncertainty always looms over democracy,? he said.
Ahsan said the media was used to report scandals of millions and billions of rupees every week during the era of Asif Ali Zardari but during the tenure of current government projects of millions and billions of rupees were inaugurated or completed every week.
?This is the difference that everybody has seen in Pakistan,? he said. Speaking about Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat?s statement about crossing the Pakistani border to call Pakistan?s ?nuclear bluff?, he said Gen Bipin?s statement was irresponsible.
He said nuclear countries should be very careful, as nukes were not guns but weapons of mass destruction. ?India has not directly threatened us, but this careless statement shows its mindset. I urge all countries with nuclear power to exercise caution. The statement of the Indian army chief proves that India is an irresponsible nuclear state, he added.
?The statements of Indian army chief and President Donald Trump indicate that external attempts are being made to pressure Pakistan. The prevailing situation requires the nation to remain united,? he added.
Ahsan Iqbal urged all politicians to do more for betterment of the society rather than bashing the government.
He said elements trying to harm democracy would not succeed. He said those doing negative politics did not want foreign investors to invest in Pakistan. He said a peaceful environment was imperative for the country?s economic progress. The minister said the government had broken the back of terrorists, eliminated power loadshedding and restored law and order across the country.
