HARIPUR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge here on Tuesday adjourned the proceedings in the Mashal Khan murder case till January 16.
Earlier, lawyers from the defence team concluded the cross-examination of the Investigation Officer in the case, Inspector Fazal Khan. The court started proceedings inside the Central Prison Haripur amid tight security.
Judge Fazal I Subhan Khan is hearing the murder case of Mashal Khan, a student of Journalism and Mass Communication Department of the Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan. He was lynched by a mob after accusing him of committing blasphemy. The lawyers from defence side included Masood Azhar, Javed Tanoli and Ashfaq Haider.After the completion of cross-examination of the last prosecution witness, the court adjourned the proceedings till January 16 when the 57 accused presently under custody would start recording their statements. Up to 51 prosecution witnesses have recorded their statements so far in favour of prosecution while over 20 were abandoned by the prosecution.
