So, I'm insecure about my legs in this picture but I'm posting it because I look so happy and this year I've decided I'm letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self criticism. Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life changing. Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes. Today I'm feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible. Thank you God for this new chapter in my life. #EDrecovery #happyAF (https://www.instagram.com/p/Bdh2TJnlnWa/)

Demi Lovato has never been one to hold back about her health journey (https://www.popsugar.com/celebrity/What-Demi-Lovato-Simply-Complicated-About-44154900). Although her 2015 song "Confident" may suggest otherwise (https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Demi-Lovato-Talks-About-Being-Empowered-Confident-38675538), in real life, the 25-year-old singer has her fair share of insecurities, but this year, she's choosing happiness instead of trying to be perfect. In a recent Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/ddlovato/), Demi opened up about the constant challenge of recovering from an eating disorder (https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Demi-Lovato-Before--After-Photo-44158848) alongside a smiling photo in a strapless bathing suit (https://www.popsugar.com/fashion/Demi-Lovato-Striped-One-Piece-Swimsuit-44472718).

"So, I'm insecure about my legs in this picture but I'm posting it because I look so happy and this year I've decided I'm letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self criticism," she captioned the photo above. "Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life changing. Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes."

She added, "Today I'm feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible. Thank you God for this new chapter in my life. #EDrecovery #happyAF." Demi also preached her 2018 mantra on Twitter (https://twitter.com/ddlovato), seen below.

This year I'm giving up my perfectionism.. who's with me?!

If Demi's contagious smile can tell you one thing, it's that she's serious about her recovery - and she's incredibly motivated. She's previously talked about the happiness she's found from working out (https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Demi-Lovato-Diet-Exercise-43907742), specifically with cardio and MMA (https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Demi-Lovato-Fitness-Routine-43925894). We've seen her knock out Sylvester Stallone (https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Demi-Lovato-Knocks-Out-Sylvester-Stallone-While-Boxing-42655958) in the boxing ring, so we have a feeling she's going to knock out her 2018 goals just like that!
