Twitter has timeouts for users who violate its standards, and it's been putting them into effect more frequently in the past few weeks.
The latest incident involved David A. Clarke, Jr., the former Milwaukee sheriff and loyal supporter for President Trump, after he published tweets bashing the media industry.*

Clarke (@SheriffClarke (https://twitter.com/SheriffClarke)) had his account locked in read-only mode (i.e. he was prohibited from publishing new tweets) after posting several violating tweets, CNN reported (http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/02/politics/sheriff-david-clarke-twitter/index.html) on Tuesday.
