Snaffle vs Pelham

HelloI have had my 10 year old ISH for 10 days and was told he?s a snaffle mouth and when schooling I would tend to agree. When hacking he is more enthusiastic having been hunted in Ireland and he puts his head up. So was thinking maybe a Pelham would help using the snaffle rein mostly. He is having his teeth done on Friday. Any thoughts appreciated
