Telecommunications giant AT&T has made an inquiry to DirecTV about an acquisition of the satellite TV provider, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

DirecTV declined to comment. AT&T did **t immediately return a request for comment.

Adding DirecTV would instantly make AT&T one of the largest subscriber television providers in the US.
