Question for saddle fitters/experts...

Right, so my horse either only seems to fit into £1.5k saddles, which I cannot afford atm, or the cheap old £100 ones that you can get from preloved/eBay/second hand section in the tack shop. Local saddlers do not stock anything in my budget (£250 max). So it seems sticking to the cheapo ones is what I have to do. Basic question, is there any way of taking a ?template? for a saddle, then taking it into the tack shop to give me an idea of what?s likely to fit?
