PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan on Friday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government closed the Ehtesab Commission after Chief Minister Pervez Khattak was accused of doing corruption.
The ANP chief paid glowing tributes to slain party leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour for the services he had rendered for the party and against terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
"Bashir Bilour was an effective voice against terrorism. The earlier suicide attacks on his life did not deter him from speaking against terrorists," the ANP chief told a public rally here.
The rally was organised to commemorate the fifth death anniversary of the late senior minister Bashir Bilour in Peshawar's Wazirbagh locality.
Bashir Bilour was martyred in a suicide attack in Peshawar on December 22, 2012.
Asfandyar Wali announced award of the ANP ticket to Haroon Bilour for contesting election on PK-3, the constituency on which his father Bashir Bilour was elected a number of times to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
He said that Haroon Bilour being the heir of Bashir Bilour would contest election on PK-3.
The ANP leader criticised US President Donald Trump, saying that the flawed US policies had been proving a harbinger of doom for regional peace.
"The Afghan policy of the US has proved detrimental to regional peace and security,? he claimed. He termed the election of Donald Trump as US president as unfortunate.
Commenting on the political situation in Pakistan, the ANP president lamented that a party that had always betrayed Pakhtuns was part of the government.
?The government once again could not materialise its promises and has left tribespeople in the lurch,? Asfandyar Wali maintained.
He claimed that all political parties were united on mainstreaming Fata before the next general election. ?All parties agree on merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and representation for the tribespeople in the provincial assembly as there is no other option,? he argued.
He said that PTI chief Imran Khan instantly declared an entire political party corrupt after a worker of that party was found guilty of wrongdoing.
However, he said, Imran Khan was not ready to accept the fact that his ?ATM? was declared corrupt by the apex court. The PTI workers were making corruption allegations against their chief minister, but the ?Kaptan? has kept mum over the issue, he added.
ANP leaders Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, MNA, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and other party leaders also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, social media users also paid tributes to Bashir Bilour.

Social media users praised Bashir Bilour for his courage in challenging the terrorists and for his life-long commitment to the party.Some paid tributes to Bashir Bilour by posting his picture with former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who was also martyred in a bomb and gun attack after her public rally in Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi.
