MULTAN: A speeding bus collided with a stationary trailer on M-4 between Khanewal-Shamkot Interchange and Rashida Interchange due to fog in the wee hours of Friday, killing nine passengers on-the-spot. Two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to Nishtar Hospital Multan, according to rescuers and hospital sources. Thirty-four years old bus driver, Muhammad Afzal, also died on-the-spot.
Also, 19 people received injuries in the mishap: 14 are still under treatment at Nishtar Hospital, while five have been discharged after first aid, sources said.
Rescue sources said fog had reduced visibility in the area the bus driver could not see the stationary trailer and hit it from rear side.The rescue sources said that a Faisal Movers bus was going to Rajanpur from Lahore. Ten rescue ambulances were sent from Khanewal and seven from Multan for transportation of the injured and the bodies to hospital.
