ISLAMABAD: For the first time in the history of the exalted office of the federal capital, Prime Minister Office (PMO), special children belonging to various schools and institutes visited the office and ?occupied? the chair and chamber of the PMO on Tuesday.
The children were invited by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and it was in line with the traditions of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who used to invite the special children at the Prime Minister House and offered them food. He started comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of the special children.
State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Shiza Fatima Khawaja and Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam were also present on the occasion.
The children were extremely delighted to interact with the prime minister. One young student beautifully recited a Naat and others shared their future aspirations. The prime minister appreciated their keen interest in education and their enthusiastic participation in various curricular and extra-curricular activities. Emphasising upon the importance of education towards realising full human potential, the prime minister said that education was key to progress and that the pursuit of knowledge must continue regardless of age.
While sitting in the cabinet room, the children were briefed about the working of the government. The meeting was part of the initiative to invite Pakistan?s schoolchildren to the highest office of government and to introduce them to the inner workings of the federal cabinet. The children also raised some issues specific to the needs of physically challenged children and some specific suggestions for the federal government to provide more support to special education.
The prime minister assured them that the government would look into these issues and resolve them on a priority basis. In the meanwhile Country Director Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Pakistan Ms. Xiaohong Yang called on Prime Minister Shahid Abbasi in the day. Assad Aleem, senior Energy Specialist ADB Pakistan, Farzana Noshaba, Senior Economic Officer, Secretary Economic Affairs Division Arif Ahmed Khan and senior officers were also present during the meeting.
Yang assured the prime minister that ADB would continue to provide its financial and technical expertise in all mutually agreed areas.
Yet in another engagement a delegation of Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) called on the prime minister. The delegation comprised of Chairman PPA Dr Muhammad Aslam, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, Mian Jan Muhammad Javed, Khalid Saleem, Dr Ashraf Hanif Chaudhry and Muhammad Irfan Maken. The delegation apprised the prime minister about the contribution of the poultry sector, its increasing growth trajectory and the export potential of the sector especially in the Muslim countries and the Middle East. The delegation also raised some issues being faced by the sector in realising its full growth potential and earning foreign exchange for the country.The prime minister directed senior officials concerned to look into the suggestions, presented by the PPA delegation, for taking measures for promotion of exports of the sector. He directed that a committee comprising of FBR, Ministry of NFS&R, Commerce and the representatives of the PPA be constituted to resolve issues related to duties concerning poultry sector.
