SR400,000 fine for animal abuse

DAMMAM - Starting next month, anyone found abusing an animal will face a fine of between SR50,000 and SR400,000, eight times the fine the new anti-abuse law approved by the Saudi Council of Ministers last August stipulates for abuse of human beings. The animal abuse law, which was approved by the Gulf Cooperation Council this month, seeks to put an end to all forms of abuse against animals.
