After allowing women to drive (http://mashable.com/2017/09/26/saudi-arabia-lifts-ban-on-women-driving/)in June 2018 and letting them into sport stadiums (http://mashable.com/2017/10/30/saudi-arabia-women-stadiums-sport-drive/), the kingdom's ministry of information and culture announced that cinemas will open from early 2018, for the first time since the 1980s — more than 35 years ago.*
