ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People?s Party (PPP) Thursday submitted the adjournment motion in the National Assembly secretariat to discuss the government agreement with the Faizabad dharna protesters in the National Assembly saying that this agreement would have serious implications on rule of law and internal security of Pakistan.
In its adjournment motion, the PPP questioned the legitimacy and the authority of the government which had dragged the military into an issue of exclusive concern of the Interior Ministry.
The legislators of the PPP Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr Nafisa Shah, Aijaz Hussain Jhakrani, Imran Zafar Leghari, Ms Shugafta Jumani, Surraya Jatoi, Mrs Shahida Rehmani and Shahzia Sobia submitted the adjournment motion in the National Assembly secretariat on Wednesday.
Through the adjournment motion, the PPP legislators stated that the National Assembly should discuss the matter that had serious implications on the rule of law and internal security of the country.
?The dharna in Faizabad area had held the country hostage for weeks disrupting life in capital and on the instruction of the Islamabad High Court, the interior ministry finally decided to carry out an operation to clear the area but it not only mishandled the operation, it capitulated in a most abject manner to the demands of protesters that held the country hostage,? the adjournment motion stated.
The PPP legislators stated in their adjournment motion that it was extremely concerning that the deal had been brokered by military authorities with explicit direction from the government with the chief minister of Punjab acted as a mediator. ?This seriously questions the legitimacy and the authority of the government which has dragged the military into an issue that the exclusive concern of the interior ministry,? the PPP legislators stated through their adjournment motion.http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/43kJhHtvTXQ
