ISLAMABAD: There is no harm in accepting resignations from federal government ministers if the move improves law and order situation in the country, senator Raja Zafarul Haq said Sunday, Geo New reported.
However, he added, some people fear the protesters? demands will increase if resignations are taken.
But the senator said efforts were made to hold talks with the Faizabad sit-in protesters. While talking to Geo News show Naya Pakistan, he said a detailed meeting was held between him and the protesters. During the meeting, formation of a committee (for negotiations) and other matters were discussed, he added.
Raja Zafarul Haq is heading the committee formed earlier by the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to fix the responsibility for the introduction of a controversial amendment to the finality of Prophethood declaration for electoral candidates.
Besides Haq, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan are also part of the committee. The committee was formed on October 7 to probe the issue as it had drawn backlash from various quarters, even though the mistake was rectified soon after the amendment was made. However, the committee headed by the senator is expected to present a report related to the controversial amendment to the court today (Monday).http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/com/cwEr/~4/lf8QXhjc-9Y
