NASA Glenn Research Center (https://www.nasa.gov/centers/glenn/about/index.html) has just reinvented the wheel, introducing a new tire (https://www.nasa.gov/specials/wheels/) that can get back to its original shape after having undergone deformation. This invention was possible thanks to a shape memory alloy based on nickel-titanium.*

No matter how many rocks it rolls over, this "Superelastic tire" (https://technology.grc.nasa.gov/patent/LEW-TOPS-99) will return to its pre-deformed shape like nothing ever happened.
