Uber announced on Tuesday that hackers stole the personal data of 57 million customers and drivers over the course of a year.*

But it's not just that massive breach. Instead of owning up to the issue, the chief security officer of the company covered it up and paid out $100,000 to the hackers, Uber admitted in a blog post (https://www.uber.com/newsroom/2016-data-incident/) Tuesday.*

The data breach included names, email addresses, and phone numbers of about 50 million Uber riders and the personal information of 7 million drivers. Bad news: it included 600,000 license numbers.
