The Piaggio Group, the parent company behind the iconic motor scooter brand, just announced at the Milan Motorcycle Show (http://www.piaggiogroup.com/en/archive/press/piaggio-group-introduces-vespa-elettrica-project-and-all-2018-news-eicma) that Vespa will produce its first all-electric model in 2018. The Electtrica (http://eicma.piaggiogroup.com/en_EN/vespa/vespa-elettrica/) first debuted as a concept vehicle at last year's show (http://www.vespa.com/en_EN/news/vespa-elettrica.html), but now, as more automakers embrace electrification (http://mashable.com/2017/10/03/electric-car-development-plans-ford-gm/) and release all-electric and hybrid vehicles, the company will actually put the scooter on roads IRL.*
