Underperforming Haj firms hit with fines

* JEDDAH - A total of 51 domestic and foreign Haj service-providing companies have been fined between SR10,000 and SR100,000 each for violations committed during the last Haj season. The fines were recommended by a committee comprising representatives from the ministries of Haj, interior and commerce that considered complaints against them from a number of pilgrims. Haj Minister Bandar Hajjar threatened to double the fines if the same mistakes were repeated in the next Haj season. Thirteen unlicensed local Haj service companies were fined between SR30,000 and SR60,000 for substandard performances.
