The new species of sloth, called Xibalbaonyx Oviceps, likely died in the cave when sea level was lower and it was dry. Researchers say Xibalbaonyx was at least 500 pounds. This new find shows giant sloths could have been found in the Caribbean area around 11,000 years ago.
