Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and his marketing manager say the selfie he took at the White House with President Obama was **t a marketing stunt orchestrated by Samsung.
Ortiz told The Boston Globe (http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/04/02/david-ortiz-says-selfie-was-**t-part-any-deal/Au61kCTuMAhdHdkV9RhfoM/story.html) on Thursday that the selfie was spontaneous. “I don’t understand where that stuff is coming from," he said. “That was one of those things that just happened. I gave him the jersey, and the photographers were going to take their pictures and I thought, really at the last second, maybe I should snap a shot with my phone while I have the chance ... Samsung hired Ortiz to be its "social media insider" on April 1.
