Several different government authorities concerned with these projects have been competing to appoint their respective representatives in these committees and they have been accused of voting against any attempt by real estate experts to implement a fairer price for land appraisals, Makkah daily reported. The issue has led to over 1,000 lawsuits being filed at the Board of Grievances against the appraisal committees in the ministries of transport, municipal and rural affairs and finance due to the keenness of the appraisal committees to safeguard the rights of the government authorities supervising these projects while completely ig**ring the rights of the owners of these properties. The committees have been accused of ig**ring the market value of real estate in the development areas and causing delays in the appraisal procedures, which in turn caused delays in payment of compensation to the property owners.
