He said that they would **t engage in confrontation and accept the judgment of the Supreme Court based on justice, **t politics, in the Panama Papers case. He has yet a**ther time maintained that he wouldn’t step down and ** amount of pressure could work in the matter.
The prime minister expressed these views while talking to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Z) Muhammad Ejazul Haq and State Minister Pir Muhammad Amin Hasnat Shah separately, who called on him on Tuesday.
The prime minister has also initiated meetings and discussions with the latest political developments with his coalition partners here. The PM also chaired a consultative meeting of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) at the Prime Minister’s House in the after**on where some federal ministers and his advisers were in attendance. The consultative meeting also reviewed the day proceedings about the PanamaLeaks in the Supreme Court where Khawaja Haris, advocate, counsel of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, continued his arguments in the case.
The prime minister said that lawyers and supporters of the PML-N were doing the right job by observing decorum inside the court-room and outside the Supreme Court. They must avoid any untoward situation despite provocation of the other side. He was of the view that the PML-N workers and leaders had been decent in their dealing throughout the proceedings ever-since the issue had come up in the apex court.
The sources said that Prime Minister Nawaz expressed satisfaction about the approach of arguments being followed by his lawyers before the court. Federal Minister for Justice Zahid Hamid, who is a top **tched constitutional expert, also joined the consultation. He sought guidance from the prime minister on some legislative business, including subject of electoral reforms, the sources added.
The meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz and Maulana Fazlur Rehman is being termed as significant in the backdrop of the political situation prevailing in the country. The JUI-F chief appreciated the position being followed by the ruling party and assured the prime minister of his fullest support in his fight for justice. He was of the view that some so-called political leaders were instrumental in a conspiracy to stall Pakistan’s progress and especially for subverting the China Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor (CPEC).
He reminded the prime minister that the whole nation stands by him as people are aware of the conspiracy. The two leaders also discussed the upcoming political developments in the country. The JUI leader told the prime minister that the people in the KP province were fed up with the PTI government in the area as it had made their life miserable. “The people of the province will teach a lesson in the polls to the incumbent rulers for their ugly role during the ongoing stint,” he said.
The sources said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appreciated the views of Fazlur Rehman and expressed the hope that the apex court would ensure justice and the government would accept the judgment based on justice.
According to the Prime Minister’s House, the development projects in the KP province and political matters came under discussion during the course of the meeting.
Later, chief of PML-Z Muhammad Ijazul Haq called on the prime minister. Political matters came under discussion during the meeting. Ijazul Haq assured his support to the PML-N and the prime minister in the wake of the upcoming political events and said that democracy shouldn’t be derailed in any eventuality. He said that the government had been serving the people in the best possible manner. The prime minister appreciated the gesture of Ijazul Haq with whom Nawaz Sharif had been maintaining old family terms.
