MINGORA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak inaugurated tourist policing and traffic warden system here on Saturday.
A smartly turned-out contingent of police presented salute to him as he inspected the passing-out recruits at the Police Training School, Mingora.
He spoke at the passing-out of the new recruits and gave away trophies and certificates to the recruits for excelling during the training.
Greeting the recruits on the completion of the training, the chief minister said the people of the province, police and armed forces had rendered tremendous sacrifices for ensuring a durable peace.
“And **w we had the target to continue retaining peace,” he added.
The chief minister warned the failure of the institutions in giving justice to the people could backfire.
“People need to be given justice, their rights should be protected and sufferings mitigated or else they would have ** trust in the institutions and might go for a wrong option,” he elaborated.
Pervez Khattak said his government took certain steps, including empowering the police institutions, stopping political interference in the Police Department and made the police force efficient.
He hoped the traffic
warden system and tourist policing would respond quickly to assigned responsibilities.
The chief minister assured to provide resources for
the police for its different plans.
Inspector General of Police Salahhuddin spoke on the police achievements and the professionalism brought about by the reforms by the present government.
Later, the chief minister inaugurated the project to upgrade Saidu Hospital to a full-fledged 500-bed hospital and also launched the construction work of academic block, hostel, lecture theatres and labs for the Saidu Medical College.
The cost of the PC-1 of the project is Rs 300 million, the construction of building will cost 275.72 million and other internal and development activities included 24.26 and 289 million, respectively.
The project would be completed within a period of 28 months.
The provincial ministers, members of the national and provincial assemblies, district nazim, police chief, commissioner and deputy commissioner were also present on the occasion.
