It's been a while since famed director Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) was suddenly and unexpectedly canned (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/walking-dead-what-happened-fired-221449) as showrunner of The Walking Dead while in the middle of filming the show's second season in the summer of 2011.*
