LAHORE: While Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said there was ** moral justification for summoning Maryam Nawaz Sharif by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the PM’s daughter said on Tuesday she saw her father’s eyes filled with concern and apprehensions over her appearance before the JIT.
She will appear before the JIT on Wednesday (today). In a ****** of tweets on Tuesday, she said her father had been through testing times in more than 30 years of his political career, aceing out his rivals.
“Yet, as an affectionate and protective father, I saw his eyes filled with concern and apprehensions over his daughter’s appearance before the JIT,” she stated on the social media.She says she reassured her father: “I am your daughter, trained by you. [I] will neither cower down **r yield to pressure and **thing will deter me from taking up the cudgels against transgression and injustice.”
Maryam said she would appear before the investigation team and follow the rule of law, like her father.Separately, CM Shahbaz Sharif said there was ** moral ground for summoning of Maryam by the JIT.
“Our culture teaches us to respect women,” he said adding “Women in the Sharif family were also subjected to mistreatment during the unconstitutional government of Pervez Musharraf.”He, however, said they accept the investigation team’s privilege to summon a person before it as a witness.
“Those giving examples of the late Benazir Bhutto incarcerated our father and did **t even provide him with medicines during detention,” Shahbaz recalled.Meanwhile, Chinese administrator National Energy Administration Nur Bekri said the hearts of people of Pakistan and China beat in unison. “Our cooperation for progress and prosperity of Pakistan will be available to you like before,” he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif hosted a luncheon in ho**ur of Nur Bekri and his delegation at Government House, Murree, on Tuesday. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, Chairman Huang Group of China Cao Peixi, Chairman Ruyi Energy Group Yafu Qiu and other Chinese officials attended the luncheon.
Shahbaz said Pakistan and China are like one family and China has given the great gift of China-Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor (CPEC) to Pakistan as a family member.
Also, three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the Punjab government and Chinese companies for bilateral cooperation in energy sector regarding 1,320-MW Coal Power Plant at Rahim Yar Khan.
Under the agreement, Huang Shandong Power General Company would extend cooperation to Punjab government for setting up 1,320-megawatt coal power plant in RY Khan.The Punjab government and Shandong Ruyi Group also signed an MoU for setting up an institute of technical training in Sahiwal.
