Zena Cardman was with a group of close friends and eating breakfast tacos the day she got a phone call that would change the rest of her life.*
In late May, Cardman (https://www.nasa.gov/astronauts/biographies/zena-cardman/biography) learned she had been chosen as one member of a class of 12 new NASA astronaut candidates who could, one day, fly to the International Space Station, or even deep space destinations like the moon or maybe Mars.
"I don't think I ever smiled that big in my life," Cardman said during a press conference an**uncing the new astronauts on Wednesday.
