Man catches AML chief outside parliament



ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have arrested a person from the premises of National Assembly on Thursday after**on on the complaint of chief of Awami Muslim League, Member National Assembly Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad.

The Secretariat Police have booked the accused under Section 506 PPC and 25-D Telegraph Act. Sheikh Rasheed lodged a complaint with the Secretariat Police Station, saying that he was leaving the National Assembly when a person later identified as Malik **or Awan, attacked him publicly and threatened him. He said on his application if anything bad happened to him, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would be responsible because the attacker belonged to PML-N.

The police have arrested the accused and started investigation. Sabah adds: The incident occurred near Gate 1 of the Parliament House. The man kept insisting that Rasheed should return his money and held the politician’s hand forcefully.

“I will pay you very soon,” Rasheed assured the man while trying to calm him down. “You must promise me that you will pay up,” the man remarked.

After the incident Sheikh Rashid went into Parliament House. “I will complain about this to the National Assembly Speaker,” said AML leader. Later, Sheikh Rashid filed a case against **or Awan at Secretariat Police Station.

Awan alleged that Sheikh Rashid bought a car from him but had yet to pay him around Rs2 million for it. Speaking to the media **or Awan said, “I am a very poor man and Rs2.2 million is a big amount. It’s my hard earned money.”

He also claimed that he ran into Sheikh Rashid at the airport but he ig**red him. He does **t even attend my phone calls. Addressing a press conference later Sheikh Rashid said, “I have said before that Parliament lacks security,” and demanded the presiding ******r to arrest the man.

Following the incident Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar met Sheikh Rashid inside Parliament. Nisar said that relevant measures will be taken upon the advice of the speaker. The person has been taken into custody, he added. On the issue Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah remarked this is an important matter and it should be investigated. This should be revealed how the person entered the Parliament.

APP adds: Presiding ******r National Assembly Mehmood Bashir Virk said Thursday that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the untoward incident of scuffle of an unk**wn person with Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

The speaker said that it should be investigated how this person entered the Parliament premises and advised the members **t to sign pass document for a person whom they did **t k**w. Haji Muhammad Yaqoob also condemned the incident and demanded investigation into the matter.
