With all the recent talk from Tim Cook (http://mashable.com/category/tim-cook%20?utm_campaign=&utm_context=textlink&utm_medium=rss&utm_source=) about Apple's focus on augmented reality, it came as a bit of a surprise on Monday at WWDC (http://mashable.com/category/wwdc%20?utm_campaign=&utm_context=textlink&utm_medium=rss&utm_source=) when the company unveiled new support for virtual reality content creation.*

Along with the new High Sierra (http://mashable.com/2017/06/05/apple-wwdc-2017-macos-1013/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) version of the macOS, Apple introduced Metal 2, the company's advanced graphics tech**logy that will support VR rendering and external GPUs (Apple's new 27-inch iMac (http://mashable.com/category/imac/?utm_campaign=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial&utm_cid=Mash-Prod-RSS-Feedburner-All-Partial) and iMac Pro will support VR right out of the box).
