ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has launched an inquiry into the leaked photograph of Hussain Nawaz, son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, while he was waiting for his first appearance on May 28 before the probe body at the Federal Judicial Academy, the sources told The News here on Monday.
"Additional Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Wajid Zia, JIT head is personally monitoring the inquiry process and the ******r who was present on the duty on May 28 is being questioned in the context of the leaked photograph of Hussain Nawaz," the sources said. The sources said the JIT had also consulted the experts to ascertain whether the leaked photograph was real or fake, adding, "The JIT will submit its report to the Supreme Court bench that can give strict orders to bring this controversial issue to its logical end."
They said the JIT head had issued strict directives to identify those who were responsible for this act that could overshadow the credibility of the probe body constituted by the Supreme Court to investigate the PanamaLeaks case.
The photograph, taken from a CCTV footage of the room where the JIT holds and questions its suspects, registered the time of 11:37am (May 28) in which Hussain Nawaz was sitting on a chair in a room, with a small table placed beside him. The files, pens, and a tissue box could be seen lying on the table. It is pertinent to mention here that PTI leader Ali Zaidi was believed to be the first person who shared the leaked photograph of Hussain Nawaz from his twitter account stating, "This should be shown live on TV so all can see what's happening in the JIT."
The photograph went viral on the social media in last a couple of days with many raising questions about the security arrangements made at the Federal Judicial Academy that acts as the secretariat of the JIT.
A spokesperson for the federal interior ministry termed the allegations ‘baseless’ that interior ministry leaked the photograph that stumped the internet on Sunday and raised concerns about the impartiality of JIT.
Spokesperson for the prime minister, Dr Mussadik Malik said as the JIT was functioning under the ambit of the judiciary so it was the responsibility of top judges to take cognizance of such things, which are creating doubts about the working of the JIT.
The emergence of the leaked photograph of Hussain Nawaz created a social media buzz and many quarters demanded an impartial inquiry to identify those elements who were allegedly involved in this illegal act.
